where’s the best place to watch 132 of the world’s top female professional golfers this week? Well… The Colony, of course! The Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America returns to The City by The Lake for it’s fourth consecutive year at Golf Clubs at the Tribute, Sept. 29-Oct.2. More importantly, it has the distinct honor of being the only LPGA tournament in the entire Lone Star State.

This championship tournament will be host to the strongest field in its 10-year history. The 2022 edition of the championship features 14 of the top-25 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, major champions, past champions and a number of local Texans who will tee it up beginning Thursday morning at 7:20 a.m.

The Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America is Texas’ signature LPGA Tour event held annually at Old American Golf Club, a part of the Golf Clubs at The Tribute in The Colony, Texas, featuring the world’s best golfers competing for a $1.7 million purse. The tournament made its debut in 2013. The event is owned and operated by Outlyr, a global sports marketing and event management agency. In addition to managing professional golf tournaments, Outlyr also operates a number of other sporting and lifestyle events and manages the sponsorship portfolio for several blue-chip clients.

“This year’s tournament field will be the strongest in history”

headlining the field are 14 of the top-25 players in the world, including Nelly Korda (2), Lydia Ko (4), Brooke Henderson (5), Lexi Thompson (7), Nasa Hataoka (9), Jennifer Kupcho (11), Sei Young Kim (12), Jessica Korda (13), Celine Boutier (14), Hye-Jin Choi (18), Danielle Kang (20), Ayaka Furue (21), Xiyu Lin (24) and Ashleigh Buhai (25).

“This year’s tournament field will be the strongest in history, and we are honored to attract the world’s best professional golfers back to Texas and The Colony for The Ascendant LPGA benefiting Volunteers of America,” said Tournament Director Emily Podzielinski. “With the additions of Lexi, Georgia, Hinako and several Dallas-area players who recently committed, the tournament will be a can’t-miss event for our great golf fans.”

And yes, you can bring the kiddos as it has several events tailored for them as well. There will be a Family Fun Zone, which is a new area with activities such as arts and crafts and mini golf! New this year is The First Tee of Greater Dallas, as well as Pappa’s Snow Cones (which you’ll probably patronize a minimum of 4-10 times, lol), The Frisco RoughRiders will have some activities lined up, as well as activities presented by The Colony Library. There will also be a variety of food trucks (and cocktails!) being rotated through the event sponsored by The Truck Yard. Now that’s doin’it right ya’ll!
